Here's a sneak peek at some things I've been working on at home this summer. We've always had a "Benjamin Bunny Journal", but now it has it's own bag to make it easier to transport Benjamin and his book back and forth from school. This year we will be celebrating birthdays in a unique way. The birthday bag will have a "Birthday Journal" that will go home with a child just before a birthday so we can learn how the child and family celebrated such a special day. Here's the best part - the birthday child will get to choose a book, put it in the bag, and bring it back to school for me to read to the whole class. It will be so fun to share a book and sing Happy Birthday!

Photo Mosaics
I wanted to share a really neat website for those of you who are shutterbugs. http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php is a site where you can create photo mosaics of your own pictures. I'll definitely be doing this with our classroom photos this year. What a great way to see several viewpoints at once!
I know that seeing the travel photos of someone else's vacation is not a thrill, but I'm including one from our trip to Lake Tahoe just to give you a taste of what's possible. Neat, huh?

Rules for Teachers
This summer Caroline and I visited good friends in Lake Tahoe. What a beautiful place!! One day we went river rafting on the Truckee River and later visited the Gatekeeper's Museum where the Truckee River begins. The museum contained many amazing pine straw baskets as well as items representing Lake Tahoe history. Upstairs in a school exhibit, we came upon "1915 Rules for Teachers". My favorite is "You may not loiter downtown in ice cream stores." Since my friend and I are both teachers, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to memorialize such a specific list!

Favorite Books
On the sidebar, I have begun a list of books we will use in our classroom this year. Of course I will add many more as time goes by. Each year it seems that the class develops their own favorites as well - the ones they ask me to read again and again - and they are never the same from year to year!

Planning Already!
Welcome to my Bunny Rabbit blog! It will be a great way to share the ways that young children learn through play. I'll post photos, samples of their work, funny stories (lots of those with 3 year olds!) and news. You'll be amazed at what a child can do in three hours of preschool!
I have already begun planning for the school year. Hard to believe, but summer is zooming by!
I've whipped out the calendar and planned topics for each week of the school year. I absolutely loved my plans from last year, so I'm going to do them again - with a few variations. I'm really excited to get back in the classroom and get rolling.
Stay tuned!
